Its time to raise the spirit of rock
as a raw and rebellious theme returns to fashion. As Sid Viciouss
iconic version of My Way belted out at BAL-
MAIN and spiky-haired
girls stomped the catwalk at BALENCIAGA, it was easy to sense the
provocation in the air. The tomboy aesthetic was con-
firmed with
sleeveless jackets and untucked shirts at BALENCIAGA, worn with
drainpipe jeans, bovver boots and brothel creepers (Dr Martens-style
lace-ups and lace-up shoes with thick crepe soles, for the
uninitiated). Hellraiser garb was also on display at BURBERRY
PRORSUM, where skin-tight leathers, trenched biker jackets, severe
studding and animal prints kept the mood suitably wild. BALMAINs
Christophe Decarnin shredded and distressed everything he could lay
his hands on -- including tights. At JAEGER, the 50s rocker vibe was
present in a series of monochrome outfits bearing white-on-black
spots and stripes.
Beauty-wise there was a rather surprising take
at BALENCIAGA, where even supermodels such as Amber Valletta and
Stella Tennant were bare-faced. This rawness was underlined by hair
bearing jagged edges and short spiky styles in angst-ridden
colours.

REBEL ROCKERS stick two fingers up to safe fashion and
choose instead to walk their own daring path. Vive la
difference!
